Archeo is one of precious few places in the US that offers serious African art. The African collection is broken down into four categories: Masks, sculpture, metal and pottery. Our masks and sculpture are older authentic pieces, and we have researched each one for its specific use and geography. Our collection of metal is extensive and holds many rare types of currency as well as unique status pieces. We have procured several pieces of lovely pottery from West Africa including cisterns, ancestor pieces and ceremonial pots. While many of our African pieces could be mistaken for modern art, they are in fact important testimonies to the craft and culture of each tribe. They end up in museums and in the homes of discriminating collectors alike.
